Description
Saint Francis is one of most venerated religious figures in history. Pope Gregory IX canonized Frances in 1228. Along with St Catherine of Siena, he is Patron Saint of Italy & Patron Saint of Animals, ecology and the natural environment.
Catholic & Anglican Churches Bless animals on his feast day. He went to Egypt to end the conflict of the Crusades. Devoted to The Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Eucharist in the Sacrifice of the Mass & arranged the first Nativity Scene in 1223.
St Francis died while listening to a reading of Psalm 141,142.
